Three decades after the release of their acclaimed album Lime, Kansas City’s Molly McGuire are returning with Disaster in Reverse, a new full-length album arriving October 2. The release marks both a celebration of the band’s influential past and a new chapter for a groHumup whose members have gone on to perform with acclaimed bands including Hum, Shiner, Spotlights, and Sisters.
Formed in 1991, Molly McGuire built a reputation for their powerful blend of post-punk and hard rock—what the band call “Big Melodic Noise.” Throughout their career, the band have toured extensively and shared stages with influential acts including Tool, Melvins, Failure, Girls Against Boys, and The Jesus Lizard.
This year also marks the 30th anniversary of Lime, the band’s landmark second album, which was recorded, mixed, and co-produced by Ken Andrews (Failure).
Recorded by Paul Malinowski (Shiner) and recorded, mixed, and mastered by Mario Quintero (Spotlights, Sisters), Disaster in Reverse captures Molly McGuire’s signature intensity while pushing its sound forward. The album will be released in partnership with Records Collecting Dust Records.
A limited pressing of 300 vinyl copies will be available exclusively through the band’s Bandcamp page beginning September 4, coinciding with Bandcamp Friday. By releasing the vinyl directly to fans, Molly McGuire continues its long-standing commitment to independent music and DIY culture.
To support the release, Molly McGuire will tour alongside Generation of Vipers (Knoxville, Tennessee), CHUM (Huntington, West Virginia), and Strange Birds, featuring Brandon Butler of Boy’s Life. Dates are below:
