Long-running Italian post-hardcore and noise punk force STORMO return with Tagli/Talee, their fifth full-length and most volatile work yet—set for release on March 21 via Prosthetic Records. Today, Decibel is proud to present an exclusive premiere of the entire album.
Tagli/Talee (translated as Cuttings/Grafts) was forged entirely on the road, serving as a visceral document of STORMO’s relentless touring cycle following 2023’s acclaimed Endocannibalismo. After storming across Europe—including a blistering Roadburn Festival appearance—the band channeled their experiences into a kinetic and unfiltered sonic assault, with each track acting as a vignette of the transient chaos that shaped them.
Pulling from first-wave screamo’s emotional rawness, noise rock’s jagged dissonance, and black metal’s frenetic speed, Tagli/Talee collages its influences into a searing exploration of movement and identity. Tracks like “Tagli,” “Kallitype,” and the fraught closer “Come Fauce Che Divora” absorb the extremity of Norway’s underground scene, while the album’s pacing mirrors the relentless sequencing of their live sets—a direct result of vocalist Luca Rocco’s meticulous approach to blending performance and recorded output.
Recorded with Diego Castioni at Cabot Cove, Bologna, and mixed/mastered by Maurizio Baggio, the album’s dissonant textures are heightened by additional sonic manipulations from Castioni (“Sabbia Pt. II”) and Alberto Bertelli (aka Holy Similaun) on “Come Fauce Che Divora.” Visually, Massimo Spadari’s intricate lithograph, etching, and linocut cover art provides the perfect counterpart to the album’s intensity.
Tagli/Talee is a defiant statement of STORMO’s ever-evolving sound, pushing punk’s boundaries with raw energy and surgical precision.
