When melodic death metal, metalcore, and groove collide, you get the sharpened steel of Recurrence—and their new single, “Remember Who The Enemy Is,” drives that point straight into your chest.
Premiering today exclusively via Decibel, the Independence, Kentucky-based wrecking crew unveils the first taste of their upcoming sophomore full-length, Art of Survival, due out November 5 via YYMBR Records. Recurrence didn’t hold back on this one, teaming with award-winning video director Scott Hansen (Meshuggah, Sevendust) and enlisting Soilwork frontman Björn “Speed” Strid for guest vocals on a high-octane track that doubles as a rallying cry.
Set in a post-collapse dystopia, the video draws heavy inspiration from The Hunger Games—not just in visuals but in ethos. Strength through suffering. Defiance through art. The band built their own set from scratch to capture that tension. “We chose this song as our first single because it captured the themes of the album perfectly,” says frontman Alex “The Antidote” Bastiat. “Scott and his team went with our vision and built a whole set from scratch. It turned out even better than we could have imagined!”
Musically, it’s all killer—tight riffs, pummeling breakdowns, electronic accents, and a chorus engineered to stay lodged in your skull. If debut album The Exit was the opening salvo, Art of Survival is war doctrine. With a stacked guest list including members of Soilwork, Scar Symmetry, The Duskfall, and more, the band is clearly aiming bigger, heavier, and more cinematic.
