Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Modes Detailed

From Grand Prix to World Match to Time Trials, see how players will be able to compete in SEGA’s Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds with the latest trailer for the title.

Scope out the different modes players can enjoy in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds below:

Grand Prix – Compete solo or with friends in local split screen co-op for first place in one of seven cups that are comprised of four races each. Racers are awarded points based on their placements at the end of races, and the racer with the most points at the end wins!

World Match – Players can compete online against 11 other players as they earn Rank Points and increase your World Rank.

Friend Match – One can play with up to 11 others online in custom lobbies. Customizations include Speed, Team Size, Course/CrossWorlds, AI Difficulty, Frenzy Gates, Items, and Rule Sets.

Race Park – One can change up the rules and teams online and offline in Race Park, featuring six unique race formats.

Time Trial – One can compete for the best time on individual courses and aim for Leaderboard Rankings.

Custom Match – One can play with up to four players offline split-screen. Customizations include Speed, Team Size, Courses/CrossWorlds, AI Difficulty, Frenzy Gates, Items, and Rule Sets. 

Rival System – Players are randomly assigned a rival racer for the duration of the four Grand Prix races, playfully taunting the main racer with unique dialogue interactions.

The full release of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds willrelease both physically and digitally (via Limited Run Games) for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 25 for $69.99.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch digitally this holiday season, and physically in early 2026.
