Slow-Burn Horror Adventure Caput Mortum Launching August 27

Inspired by all-time classic titles like King’s Field and Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Black Lantern Collective and WildArts Games announced that their indie psychological horror experience Caput Mortum will launch on Steam August 27.

In this title, players will set out to keep their wits among them as they set out to uncover the secrets found within an abandoned 16th-century alchemist’s tower located in the quiet French countryside.

Caput Mortum pays host to devilishly unique controls, with a controller recommended for players to enjoy its old-school dungeon crawling to the fullest. A King’s Field controller settings option, which sets out to emulate the button mapping of FromSoftware’s 90s action RPG, is also available.

For those looking to feel especially vulnerable, Caput Mortum also features a keyboard-only mode. Too much? A keyboard with mouse mode is also available for a more familiar experience.

Gabriel B. Dufour, Art Director at WildArts Games, said the following:

“Caput Mortum was inspired by my first time playing King’s Field 4 and the anxiety that comes with getting familiar with a game’s control scheme in a hostile environment.

I also took inspiration from Amnesia: The Dark Descent when thinking about the monster encounters and puzzles. I hope fans of these classic games find something familiar to love in Caput Mortum, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be surprises.”
