Deeper Graves is the one-man project of Jeff Wilson (Chrome Waves, Contrition, ex-Nachtmystium, ex-Wolvhammer), an outlet for his metal-adjacent dark/goth rock explorations. The seven-track full-length we’re streaming here, Pull Me Toward the Dark, is Wilson’s third Deeper Graves album and it evokes the hazy guitar wash of shoegaze, the strident rhythms of classic late ’70s/early ’80s post-punk (a la the Cure and Joy Division) and a dash of early ’90s electro-industrial heaviness. The deep reverb-heavy vocals complete the melancholy vibe.
Pull Me Toward the Dark was fully performed, engineered, recorded, mixed and mastered by Wilson who also handled its cover art and photography. It’s set for release on digitally via Wilson’s label, Disorder Recordings on February 27, with physical copies to follow. Place your preorder here.
Wilson had this to say about the origins of his latest solo project:
“While I wasn’t sure I would do another full-length for this project, this album has kind of revitalized my interest for it. A couple of these songs are some of my favorite things I’ve done. Hope you all enjoy it as well.”
