Blast Worship: Detriment

Where they from?
Florida. Hockey has finally after the Olympic break. What a thrill it’s going to be going from watching the best players in the world battle for international glory to watching the Utah Mammoth play the Columbus Blue Jackets on a Wednesday. Baseball cannot get here soon enough.

Why the hype?
What’s that in the sky? IT’S A BIRD! IT’S A PLANE! NO, I’TS A TECHNICAL BRUTAL DEATHGRIND BAND FROM FLORIDA! Detriment have the swinging groove of those slower Assück songs while combining the acerbic intensity of that early Maruta demo, you know, the one from 2004? Also the vocals are just insane, sounds like a group of farm animals regurgitating after you accidentally gave them a sip of your chocolate Yoo-hoo. Does Yoo-hoo even come in other flavors than chocolate?

Latest release?
External Expiration out now on Blackheaven Records. This band really reminds me of one of my favorite deathgrind acts, Plague Widow in that darkness and barbarity just oozes over every single note they play. Seriously this is a band to keep your eye on.
