What Are Keys For In Crimson Desert

There are two types of keys you will discover on your adventures through Crimson Desert, Keys, and Prison Keys. In this guide, we’ll break down the use of both so you understand how they work.

Keys are found in the game world, marked by a small purse icon on the mini-map. They are also frequently obtained by killing bandits, smugglers, and other undesirables. It’s a bit of a strange system because these keys are not unique.

The base Keys are skeleton keys, of sorts. They will work on nearly any non-story related door in the game, and once they are used, they are gone.

A good example of this is the large castles in each of the towns. They are filled with locked doors, quite often needing 5-10+ keys to gain access to all areas. Approaching a locked door and attempting to enter will automatically used the key and open the door, the key is then removed from your inventory.

Prison Keys work much in the same way, except they only work on cells in jail and those you often find at barracks and other guard-based locations.
